The district contracts with CalPERS to provide the 2.7% at 55 retirement formula (employee contribution of 2% of annual salary). New members hired on or after January 1, 2013 will be contracted under the 2% at 62 retirement formula. The district does not participate in the Social Security program.
All full-time employees shall be eligible to participate in the Percentage Based Employer Contribution Plan (PBECP). The PBECP covers ninety-five percent (95%) of health benefit premiums for employees in the Professional/Supervisory and Management classifications and their qualified dependents, and ninety percent (90%) of health benefit premiums for all other classifications and their qualified dependents, up to the cost of the benchmark plan (Blue Shield for the current year). Employees will be responsible for covering the remaining percentage of the health benefit premium costs, and any additional costs incurred by selecting a health plan above the benchmark plan.
The district offers 3 PPO and 3 HMO health plans to choose from. Enrollment in one of the plans is mandatory. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
The district offers a PPO / EPO dental plan as well as an HMO dental plan. Enrollment in one of the plans is mandatory. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
The District will cover 100% of the employee’s selected dental and vision plan for employees and their qualified dependents.
The district offers a voluntary vision plan. Coverage is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.
Life & Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) Insurance
Senior management and executive management employees are provided with a district-paid Life and AD&D policy of $150,000. All other employees are provided with a district-paid Life and AD&D policy of $100,000.
A voluntary Life and AD&D policy is offered to employees who wish to elect additional Life and AD&D insurance through payroll deduction. A dependent plan is also available for employees who wish to cover their spouse or dependent children.
Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Employees may contribute to a medical reimbursement account and/or dependent care reimbursement account to pay for unreimbursed medical and/or dependent care expenses with pre-tax dollars.
A 457(b) plan is available to all employees. Enrollment is voluntary.

- Professional / Supervisory and General / Confidential employees - $125.00 / month
- Hourly Employees (EVWDEP Represented) - $75.00 / month
Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
A comprehensive EAP is provided to help employees and their family members find direction in solving problems.
The District offers 13 paid holidays.
Administrative Leave is offered as follows:
- Executive management - 64 hours / year
- Senior management - 56 hours / year
- Management - 48 hours / year
- Professional / supervisory - 40 hours / year
Annual Vacation Leave will be earned at 80 hours per year and will increase after 3 years.
Sick Leave will be earned at 104 hours per year.
