The District Celebrates Surface Water Treatment Plant Enhancement
East Valley Water District held a ribbon cutting ceremony to commemorate the $4.2 million dollar upgrades at Plant 134 Surface Water Treatment Plant. Now including Granular Activated Carbon (GAC) technology, the facility utilizes an additional safety measure in the treatment process, providing enhanced treatment capabilities for the community’s surface water supplies.

District Awarded $1.1 Million Hazard Mitigation Grant
East Valley Water District was awarded a $1.1 million Hazard Mitigation Grant Program grant from the Federal Emergency Management Agency to fund a District Water Main Seismic Retrofit Study. The study will include main line assessments, project designs, and a prevention plan to enhance water system reliability in the event of an earthquake.

EVWD Participates in the Seventh Annual National Imagine A Day Without Water
The District is participating in a national educational campaign, Imagine a Day Without Water, asking the community to think about how their life would be impacted without a reliable water source. A day without water means you can’t make a morning cup of coffee, fill up a water bowl for your furry friend, or cook a meal with loved ones.

EVWD Installed the Final Advanced Meter to Complete Upgrade Across the District
East Valley Water District (EVWD) completed the final advanced meter installation today to fully upgrade these devices across the District. Having installed over 20,000 meters, this infrastructure upgrade allows for all customers the ability to electronically read water usage data, provide community members with information in near ‘real time’ and alert customers when a potential leak is detected.

Agencies Come Together to Break Ground for Regional Recycled Water Facility
Three lead water agencies broke ground on the first phase of a regional recycled water project that will keep recycled water in local groundwater basins for future use. East Valley Water District, San Bernardino Municipal Water Department, and San Bernardino Valley Municipal Water District are partnering on a multi-phase regional recycled water project that includes infrastructure to store and transport water through Highland and San Bernardino.

Fitch Rating & Standard & Poor’s Affirm EVWD Credit Ratings
The District’s commitment to optimize infrastructure and protect organizational investments has secured a Fitch Rating of ‘AA-’ on obligations issued by East Valley Water District. The rating results in $385,000 in interest savings through bond refinancing.

Two EVWD Board Seats Up For Election In November
In 2020, East Valley Water will have two Board of Directors seats up for election. Community members interested in running are encouraged to visit the San Bernardino County Registrar of Voters offices to request candidate filing documents. Candidate filing begins July 13, 2020, and closes on August 7, 2020, at 5:00 pm.

EVWD Receives Grant Award for New Hydroelectric System
Constantly looking for ways to maximize District operations and use resources efficiently, EVWD installed a hydroelectric generation system that will convert energy from moving water into renewable electricity. Southern California Edison (SCE) presented the District with a $231,650 grant award for its efforts in supporting distributed energy resources through the Self-Generation Incentive Program (SGIP).

Local High School Students Awarded With a Special Donation
Indian Springs High School volunteers eagerly helped distribute over 300 high efficiency toilets and 175 showerheads to EVWD customers. Reminding the youth that generosity doesn’t go unnoticed, students received a special donation for their volunteer work during an East Valley Water District event held in partnership with EcoTech Services.

Sterling Natural Resource Center Secures State Funding

Director of Engineering Joins East Valley Water District
Steven Nix, joined East Valley Water District as the new Director of Engineering and Operations. Mr. Nix has 35 years of experience in the design and construction management of public works projects, including water and wastewater facilities.
