East Valley Water District (District) has been awarded a certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting for the fifth year in a row by the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) for its comprehensive annual financial report (CAFR). The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in governmental accounting and financial reporting.
“The Comprehensive Annual Financial Report is just another example of East Valley’s commitment to openness and transparency,” said Board Chairman Ron Coats. “This document provides an important snapshot of the year for the community, investors and other stakeholders.”
The CAFR document includes an overview of the District’s financial management, details about internal and budgetary controls, debt administration, and investment policies. It also contains a complete independent audit report, performed annually by a certified public accountant.
GFOA evaluates the CAFR with an impartial panel, requiring the document to meet the high standards of the program, including demonstration of a “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and ability to make the document engaging to its readers.
“The CAFR represents a summary of the District’s financial strength at year end and demonstrates the great level of care provided to the community we serve,” said John Mura, CEO/General Manager.
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving approximately 17,500 government finance professionals.
